Slice the onions into rings.

In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet.

Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy.
