Rinse the red lentils under cold water.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper. Sauté until softened.

Add chili powder, cumin powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

Add rinsed lentils, canned diced tomatoes, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until lentils are tender.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Serve hot with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
