Rinse and drain the red beans.

In a large pot, heat some oil and sauté the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and jalapeno pepper until softened.

Add the red beans, tomatoes, vegetable broth, cumin powder, chili powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to blend the soup until smooth.

Stir in the cilantro and lime juice.

Serve the soup hot, topped with sliced avocado and crushed tortilla chips.
