Chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans, are a great source of plant-based protein and fiber.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas.

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, red bell pepper, cilantro, breadcrumbs, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

Pulse until well combined but still slightly chunky.

Shape the mixture into 4 patties.

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Toast the burger buns.

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun, top with a lettuce leaf, a chickpea patty, tomato slices, and the top bun.

Serve the spicy chickpea burgers with your favorite side dish.
