Rinse the lentils and set aside.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add the tomatoes, cumin powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add the lentils and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until lentils are tender.

Use an immersion blender or transfer to a blender to puree the soup until smooth.

Stir in lemon juice.
