Serbian Cabbage, also known as Sarma, is a traditional Serbian dish made during holidays and special occasions. It is a delicious combination of cabbage leaves stuffed with a flavorful rice and vegetable filling, baked to perfection.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Remove the core from the cabbage and separate the leaves.
  3. Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and carrot, and sauté until softened.
  5. Add rice, tomato sauce, vegetable broth, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Place a cabbage leaf on a flat surface and spoon some of the rice mixture onto it. Roll the leaf, tucking in the sides, to form a cabbage roll. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  7. Place the cabbage rolls in a baking dish and pour any remaining sauce over them.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cabbage rolls are tender.
  10. Let the cabbage rolls rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy!
