Roast the red bell peppers over an open flame or under the broiler until the skins are charred. Place them in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let them steam for 10 minutes. Peel off the charred skin, remove the seeds, and chop the peppers.

In a food processor, combine the red peppers, basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Process until smooth.

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
