  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water.

  3. Add the chopped onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  4. Add the lentils, vegetable broth, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  5. Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
  6. Remove the bay leaves and stir in the fresh parsley and lemon juice.
  7. Let the soup rest for 10 minutes before serving.
