Soak chana dal in water for 4-6 hours. Drain the water.

In a blender, grind soaked chana dal, onion, green chili, ginger, and garlic into a coarse paste.

Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add cilantro, curry leaves, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.

Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.

Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a small ball or patty.

Gently drop the ball or patty into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.

Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel.
