  1. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onion becomes translucent.
  3. Add the asparagus pieces and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly. Use an immersion blender or regular blender to puree the soup until smooth.
  6. Return the soup to the pot and place it back on low heat. Stir in lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Stir in coconut milk and let the soup simmer for another 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve the fresh asparagus soup hot, garnished with a sprinkle of black pepper and fresh asparagus tips, if desired.
