In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.

Add the turmeric, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well.

Add the rice to the saucepan and stir to coat it with the spices.

Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it rest, covered, for 5 minutes.

Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with parsley before serving.
