Ingredients
  • 1 cup Red Lentils
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 1 medium Tomato
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 piece Green Chili
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • to taste for garnish Cilantro
Instructions
  1. Wash the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils, water, chopped onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, green chili, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  3. Close the pressure cooker lid and cook on medium heat for 3-4 whistles.
  4. Once the pressure is released, open the lid and give it a good stir.
  5. In a separate pan, heat oil and add garam masala powder.
  6. Pour this tempering over the cooked lentils and mix well.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
  8. Serve hot with rice or roti.
