Bean burgers are a popular vegetarian alternative to meat burgers and are packed with plant-based protein and fiber.

  1. Drain and rinse the canned beans.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the beans with a fork or potato masher.
  3. Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.
  4. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, flaxseed meal, water, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans.
  5. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  6. Shape the mixture into patties and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  7. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  8. Cook the bean patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Toast the burger buns.
  10. Assemble the burgers by placing a bean patty on each bun, topped with lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and onion slices.
  11. Serve the Classic Bean Burgers immediately.
