  1. Rinse and drain the black beans.
  2. In a large pot, sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Add the red bell pepper, carrot, and celery. Cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add the black beans, vegetable broth, cumin, and chili powder. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Use an immersion blender to partially blend the soup.
  8. Stir in lime juice, salt, and black pepper.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro and avocado slices.
