  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1-inch thick slices.
  3. Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  4. While the bread is toasting, dice the tomatoes and chop the basil leaves.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven and let them cool slightly.
