Ingredients
  • 2 cup Basmati rice
  • 1 cup Lentils
  • 1 large Onion
  • 2 medium Carrot
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1/4 cup Almonds
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 cups Water
Instructions
  1. Rinse the basmati rice and lentils separately.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the carrots, raisins, almonds, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and salt. Stir well.
  4. Add the rinsed lentils and water to the pot. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add the rinsed basmati rice to the pot and stir gently.
  6. Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 30 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  7. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
