Soak the black fungus and wood ear mushrooms in water until soft. Drain and slice them.

Peel and julienne the carrots.

In a steamer, steam the bamboo shoots, carrots, black fungus, wood ear mushrooms, and bean sprouts for 5 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, white pepper powder, cornstarch, and water.

Pour the sauce over the steamed vegetables and mix well.

Steam for another 2 minutes.

Serve hot as an appetizer or starter.
