Cut tofu and tempeh into small rectangular pieces.

Heat cooking oil in a pan and fry the tofu and tempeh until golden brown. Set aside.

In the same pan, add water, palm sugar, sweet soy sauce, bay leaves, lemongrass, and salt. Stir until the palm sugar is dissolved.

Add the fried tofu and tempeh to the pan. Simmer for 30 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
