Soak the brown beans in water overnight.

Drain and rinse the beans.

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant.

Add soaked beans, vegetable broth, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour or until beans are tender.
