Ingredients
  • 2 cup Basmati Rice
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 cup Water
  • 1 pinch Saffron
  • 1 teaspoon Rose Water
  • 5 whole Cardamom Pods
  • 1 stick Cinnamon Stick
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon Raisins
  • 2 tablespoon Almonds
  • 2 tablespoon Pistachios
Instructions
  1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice, sugar, water, saffron, rose water, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  5. While the rice is cooking, melt the butter in a small pan over medium heat.
  6. Add the raisins, almonds, and pistachios to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the nuts are lightly toasted.
  7. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and remove the cardamom pods and cinnamon stick.
  8. Serve the muhammar hot, topped with the toasted nuts and raisins.
