Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup Basmati Rice
  • 3 large Tomatoes
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 clove Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 piece Green Chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh Coriander Leaves
Instructions
  1. Wash the basmati rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  3. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix gently.
  8. Add water and bring it to a boil. Then, cover and simmer until the rice is cooked.
  9. Once the rice is cooked, sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Let the tomato rice rest for 5 minutes before serving.
