Heat oil in a large pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.

Add the garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute.

Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric powder, garam masala, and red chili powder. Stir well.

Add the sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and tomatoes. Mix everything together.

Pour in the coconut milk and vegetable broth. Season with salt.

Cover the pan and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.

Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Stir in the fresh cilantro and lime juice.
