Ingredients
  • 1 cup Red lentils
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1/4 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 medium Tomato
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
Instructions
  1. Rinse the red lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes. Drain the water.
  2. In a blender, blend the lentils, onion, garlic, ginger, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, gram flour, lemon juice, fresh coriander leaves, and salt until smooth.
  3. Grease a steamer tray and spoon the lentil mixture onto it, shaping it into dumplings.
  4. Steam the dumplings for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they start to crackle, add curry leaves and sauté for a minute.
  6. Add chopped tomato, sugar, and water to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, until the tomatoes are soft.
  7. Transfer the steamed lentil dumplings to the pan with the tangy gravy and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
