Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Butter (vegan butter for vegan version)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
Instructions
  1. Pop the popcorn kernels using your preferred method.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the sugar, cayenne pepper, and salt to the saucepan. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the baking soda. The mixture will foam up.
  6. Immediately pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and toss to coat evenly.
  7. Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Allow the popcorn to cool and the caramel to harden before serving.
