  5. Add barberries, sugar, and a pinch of salt to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. In a non-stick pot, layer the rice and barberry mixture.
  7. Cover the pot with a clean kitchen towel and the lid. Cook on low heat for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  9. Gently mix the rice and barberries before serving.
