Ingredients
  • 1 cup Red Lentils
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 3 clove Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 chopped Green Chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • as needed for garnish Fresh Coriander Leaves
Instructions
  1. Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, heat oil and sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Add tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  5. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pressure cooker.
  7. Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  8. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and add garam masala. Mix well.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with rice or naan.
