Ingredients
  • 1 cup Red Lentils
  • 4 cup Water
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 medium Tomato
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh Cilantro
Instructions
  1. Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil and sauté chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger and garlic and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  5. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pot. Stir well.
  7. Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 25-30 minutes or until lentils are cooked.
  8. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro.
  9. Serve hot with rice or bread.
