Ingredients
  • 1 cup Red lentils
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
Instructions
  1. Rinse the lentils and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté until onions are translucent.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  4. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir well.
  5. Add the rinsed lentils and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are cooked and tender.
  6. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and lemon juice. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
