Ingredients
  • 1 cup Toor dal
  • 4 cup Water
  • 1 medium Tomato
  • 2 piece Green chili
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
Instructions
  1. Wash the toor dal and soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. Pressure cook the dal with water, turmeric powder, and salt for 4-5 whistles.
  3. In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, and green chili.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, ginger, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot with rice or roti.
