Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Add the fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve the marinara sauce over cooked pasta, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
