Ingredients
  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • 2 tablespoon Coconut
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 chopped Green chili
  • 1/2 inch grated Ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
Instructions
  1. Soak chana dal in water for 2-3 hours.
  2. Drain the water and rinse the dal.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked and rinsed dal along with 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is cooked but not mushy.
  4. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal, curry leaves, green chili, and ginger. Saute for a minute.
  5. Add asafoetida, cooked chana dal, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat and add grated coconut and lemon juice. Mix well.
  7. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve the Chana Dal Sundal as a snack or appetizer.
