Ingredients
  • 1 cup Chana Dal (Split Chickpeas)
  • 3 cup Water
  • 1 medium-sized Onion
  • 2 medium-sized Tomato
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 2 chopped Green Chili
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • as needed for garnishing Fresh Coriander Leaves
Instructions
  1. Wash and soak the chana dal for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add soaked chana dal, water, and salt. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions. Saute until golden brown.
  4. Add ginger, garlic, and green chili. Saute for a minute.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft.
  6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  7. Add the cooked chana dal to the pan and mix everything together.
  8. Cook for 10-15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot with rice or roti.
