Caribbean/Mexican Style Stove Top Refried Beans

Caribbean/Mexican Style Stove Top Refried Beans recipe

Refried beans are a staple in Mexican and Caribbean cuisine. Contrary to their name, they are not actually fried twice. The term 'refried' comes from the Spanish word 'refritos,' which means 'well-fried.' The beans are cooked, mashed, and then sautéed in oil or fat to develop their rich flavor and creamy texture.
