  3. Finely chop the red onion, garlic cloves, jalapeno pepper, and cilantro.
  4. Add the chopped vegetables, breadcrumbs, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed black beans. Mix well to combine.
  5. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  6. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the black bean patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, until crispy and heated through.
  7. Toast the burger buns.
