Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoon Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 clove Garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 ounce Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves, torn
Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  2. Add the canned crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, sugar, and red pepper flakes (if desired). Stir well to combine.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the torn fresh basil leaves.
  5. Serve the marinara sauce over your favorite pasta or use it as a base for other Italian dishes.
