In a large pot, add the pigeon peas, onion, garlic, carrots, celery, thyme, bay leaves, and vegetable broth. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer for 30 minutes.

While the soup is simmering, prepare the plantain dumplings. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add water and mix until a dough forms. Shape the dough into small dumplings.

After the soup has simmered for 30 minutes, remove the bay leaves and thyme sprigs. Use an immersion blender or a regular blender to blend the soup until smooth.

Return the soup to the pot and add the plantain dumplings. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes or until the dumplings are cooked through.
